Webcast Series - Sustainable Finance: Imagine the Future
Sustainability has become a priority on the agenda of the financial institutions. Banks, insurance companies, asset managers and the other financial market players are considered vital in the transformation journey towards a sustainable economy. The challenges that regulators, investors, and society are placing on the financial services sector to contribute to a sustainable future are now maybe greater than ever.
The great news is that there are wonderful opportunities to be seized, as customers are increasingly demanding sustainable solutions. Moreover, the idea that sustainability comes at the expense of financial returns could not be more flawed: scientific studies have demonstrated that returns and a long-term sustainable focus go hand-in-hand. Financial market players who prioritize sustainable practices and investments can thus position themselves as winners in the sustainable financial sector of the future.
In our webcast series, we take a look on what the new challenges mean in practice and how they can be mastered, while delivering sufficient knowledge to tackle the challenge of ESG implementation and Sustainable Finance transformation within your organisations.
Starting with January 2022 we are introducing our “ESG Bites” webinar series: everything you need to know about ESG topics in a condensed and dynamic format.
It’s difficult to keep up with the ESG landscape which is evolving faster than ever. That is why we’ve come up with a solution: one-hour monthly webinars to address today’s most compelling ESG issues applicable to the Financial Services Industry. Each webinar will tackle a single ESG topic and will provide participants with key takeaways, as well as the opportunity to ask questions. We will go through the applicable steps that help assess challenges and contribute to the decision-making process, in order to not only mitigate risks but also identify opportunities which maximize sustainable value creation.
Future of Reporting: Sustainability Reporting Standards, ESG for Financial Institutions
With stakeholders demanding more strategic, holistic information about the long term value creation and the companies’ wider impact on society, there is an urgent need for sustainability information to be reported in a way that is globally consistent, comparable and trusted.
On 31 March 2022, the ISSB – the IFRS body in charge with developing non-financial reporting standards - launched its first two proposed standards - General Sustainability-Related Disclosure Requirements and Climate-Related Disclosure requirements. In the first months of 2022, EFRAG published batches of its European Sustainability Reporting Standards that integrate the double materiality principle and are expected to enable investors to assess compliance with the SFDR and EU Taxonomy. Both are currently open for public consultation.
