Paul joined PwC in 1998 and became a Partner in 2009. Since 2010 Paul has been the Financial Services (FS) Assurance leader for PwC Romania and Moldova.
He has over 15 years of auditing and consulting experience, as he has audited and advised FS clients in the UK and across the CEE region, as far afield as, for example, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Slovenia.
Paul is an IFRS expert, especially in the field of financial instruments. In the 3 years prior to relocating to Romania in 2009, Paul gained knowledge and experience of the Romanian FS sector via work he performed for Romanian clients as part of PwC’s CEE accounting advisory department. This included reviewing financial statements and audit reports, plus consulting on complex accounting issues.
Paul was the Lead Partner on PwC’s regulatory audits of a number of banks in Romania, performed as part of the Romanian Central Bank’s overall assessment of the quality of Romanian banking assets. He has also led and been involved in banking due diligence projects in Romania, with a focus on assessing the quality of the target bank’s assets and the viability of its business.
Paul is currently the lead audit partner for a number of large FS clients and so has extensive knowledge and experience in the audit of FS clients and their systems and processes. Paul has also been involved in a number of advisory projects, especially focused on accounting and regulatory advice and implementation of IFRS.
Paul has been a presenter at a number of FS related events in Romania, including IFRS accounting training delivered to Romanian finance professionals and presentations on the current state and future of the Romanian FS sector.
Paul is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) and the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania (CAFR).
